You smile for too long
A genuine smile is nice to everyone but it will make someone think that you are a fake person if you smile for too many second even minutes. Try to stand in front of mirror and smile for one minutes or longer. Do you feel tired and weird about the smile? Sometimes when you smile unknowingly, you will go for minutes and you will not notice about it. When you are not paying attention, others will be. They will see your behavior, smile and other action to know what emotion that you are going to portray. Therefore, just be real and have a genuine smile while let go of your breath rather than trying hard to have it.
Your smile is flat
A fake smile is like a door where it blocks all the energy to flow through and people will think that it is difficult to work with you. Therefore, try to have habit of giving genuine smile in suitable situation and let other feel the your true feeling about them. Genuine smile is like a window where you allow others warm feeling comes through. If you still can’t figure out how to have genuine smile, try to imagine some lovely situation or experience where genuine feeling produces genuine smile.
Your smile doesn’t reflect what you are saying
When audience see you smiling but doesn’t know why, your smile come across as random and it doesn’t connect with what you say. For example, you are in the middle of your presentation and suddenly you have a flash of memory about your experience at beach and you have a genuine smile at that time. It is good to have genuine smile but you having it in wrong situation where you are not fully engaged in what you are saying. If you are in some situation where it supposed to be serious, it is better for you to focus on something like concentrating and engaging with your audience that having a genuine smile. You smile sill come across as genuine and you will authentically project warmth and openness.
